The ten
| Where | Usually this tier | The month that settles it |
|---|---|---|
| Spain and Portugal | Runs regardless | Spring into early summer, then autumn. The strongest value in western Europe, with no minimum hanging over it |
| The Carolinas | Runs regardless | Anything outside the school holidays. A drive rather than a flight |
| Scotland | Runs regardless independently, conditional in a group | May to September for the light. Sunday services are thin all year |
| Peru | Already guaranteed | May to September is dry and cold at night. Guaranteed departures exist year round on the popular dates |
| The Danube | Already guaranteed | Spring and late autumn. High summer brings heat, crowds and the least reliable water |
| Morocco | Already guaranteed | April, May, October, November. Inland summer is severe and we say so |
| Iceland | Already guaranteed | Late May to early September for long days, or the dark months for a chance of aurora nobody can promise |
| Italy and Greece | Minimum usually met | Shoulder months fill; the edges of the season are where minimums start to bite |
| Japan | Minimum usually met | Spring and autumn fill months ahead. The quiet months genuinely fall short |
| Patagonia, Namibia, Kerala | Read this twice. Minimum often short | Peak weeks reach the number; the shoulder dates that are otherwise the best value are the ones that most often do not |
Why the list is this short
Ten is what one office books often enough to have a record worth quoting. A list of forty would carry exactly as much information as a list of none, because none of it would come with a history of whether the departures actually ran.
Ask about an eleventh and you will be told plainly that no record exists yet, and that it gets built with you watching.

What starting from Atlanta changes
- Connections
- almost none of these routes has a non-stop from here, meaning every itinerary has a change in it, and which connection your dates allow shifts the number further than the choice of hotel
- Read this twice. Conditional departures
- a connecting itinerary bought early is exactly the money a shortfall does not return. On the bottom two tiers, wait for the decision date
- Arrival days
- planned as travel days. Anybody scheduling monuments after eighteen hours has not tried it
- Time zones
- eight of these sit at least five hours ahead, and it is the opening morning that most travelers throw away
